These AI Assistant Terms supplement the PreMD Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and apply specifically to the optional AI assistant in the PreMD platform (the "Assistant"). By enabling or using the Assistant, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Assistant; the rest of PreMD remains fully usable without it.
The Assistant is an optional study and application aid that can answer questions and reference the record you have entered in PreMD. By default it runs on your device using your browser's built-in AI, so your questions and your record do not leave your computer. You may optionally connect a third-party model using your own API key ("BYOK").
The Assistant provides general educational information only. It is not medical, legal, financial, or admissions advice, and nothing it produces is a guarantee of any examination score or admissions outcome. Always verify important information against official sources (for example, the AAMC and the schools to which you apply) and consult a qualified professional where appropriate.
AI systems can produce inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misleading content, and may state incorrect information confidently ("hallucinations"). You are responsible for reviewing and independently verifying any output before relying on or acting on it. Do not use the Assistant for decisions where an error could cause harm.
When the Assistant runs on your device, your prompts and the record context sent to it are processed locally by your browser and are not transmitted to PreMD or to any AI provider. PreMD does not receive, store, or train on your conversations.
If you choose to connect a third-party model with your own API key, your prompts and the relevant record context are sent directly from your browser to that provider (for example, Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter) to generate a response. PreMD does not proxy, receive, or store those messages. Your use of any third-party model is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy, and you are responsible for any usage, costs, and limits associated with your key. Your API key is stored only in your browser and is never included in the data PreMD syncs to its servers.
The Assistant is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, PreMD and its operators are not liable for any decision made, action taken, or loss incurred in reliance on Assistant output. The limitation-of-liability and disclaimer provisions of the Terms of Service apply in full to the Assistant.
We may update these AI Assistant Terms as the feature or applicable requirements change. Material changes will be reflected by a new "Last revised" date above and, where appropriate, notice within the Service. Continued use of the Assistant after a revision constitutes acceptance.
